Would pop in here for food every month or so. Food is lovely and the cajun burger is like nothing on earth! They had a set menu the last time I was there which looked good. Hasn't been very busy the last few times I've been in. Shame but suppose that's a sign of the times. Good pub

Called in for first time last week. Food was good, plentiful and averagely priced. Had a good couple of pints too. Served by a youngish barman who was polite and friendly but gave myself and my partner plenty of space when we got our meal.Nice pub

drank there good few times. complete dive. staff dog ignorant except for one member of staff who recently left and no surprise why. food not great very over priced, chef needs to have a word with himself, and needs not to walk to work in uniform while smoking. family run pub, something very strange going on there, not a nice atmosphere.

Local to the village myself. Don't know what the previous poster was on about. Know from going regularly that all the staff have been there for quite a long time and are all helpful and good craic. Also know from living in the village that pub has sponsored the GAA club over the years. Good pub

We called to this local pub, for a quick lunch. We had been here before and found the food and staff to be good. However today that was not the case. We ordered food, just two burgers. After 45 mins we were still waiting and had to ask the barman where it was. He rudely responded that it was 'a burger and takes time'. After a further five minute wait the food arrived to our table. We got no apology for the wait, in fact the server didnt even make eye contact. The sad part of all this that as we entered the bar we had being discussing booking the pub for a family party of at least 50 people, all requiring food and drink. We will not be returning and a local business has lost out on a lot of money. Can anyone afford to turn away customers these days?

being a local, i find athgarvan village could really do with a new pub because the dublin owners do not seem to grasp local community spirit despite their numerous years here. Owner & family, lucky dip! Once went in one saturday night at 10pm, owner had nerve to question where I was till then. Staff not great, always young & innocent! high turnover of young staff. Never get to know bar staff, there one night gone the next! Being a keen gambler, bookies only good thing.

Popped in a Friday night for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Both myself and my husband has the cod and it was absolutely gorgeous. Prices were ok but can't knock the food or the drink. Young lad serving us was very polite and helpful but not all over us, which was great. Other bar man seemed very nice as well. Nice pub.

Athgarvan INN The pub is so-so :) but the atmosphere is fantastic! Every Tuesday and almost every Friday at the Pub is a great acoustic shows.Gentlemen play an old Irish folk music. It happens that one night it houses a dozen different instruments such as guitar, banjo, mandolin, drums, and beautifully sounding like a magic flute .. The advantage of these meetings is that if any of the guests can play or sing, can easily join the group and touring with them .. I recommend it to everyone

I was in this pub when I arranged to visit an old school friend that I had not seen for many years. Although we had a good time together chatting and remember the past the manager was by far the most rude man I have ever had the misfortune to meet. He was rude and very intimidating. I tried to engange in conversation with him while waiting for my friend and he told me he was there to serve not to chat with my sort, it was obvious to me what he meant, I will never go back

Unfortunately It's been a while since I've had the pleasure of being in the Athgarvan Inn. However, I've just been reading some of the patrons ratings. I have to say that I would love to be just sitting in the lounge right now sinking a pint of the Black stuff and devouring one of their delicious meals from their extensive menu. Miss it so much and as for the cretinous skinflint Paul, who slated the pub, it's staff and the food that he rebuked....He is obviously a taste insensitive moron from inner city Dublin. Of back to Dolphins Barn or where ever you hail from.

Without a doubt the best pub around by far. All the staff are lovely. Used to work there when I was younger, and would still enjoy going in for a drink or something to eat. There is never any trouble there, the owners wouldn't have it and niether would the locals. The food is great and reasonable. A real family pub during the day and a lively fun pub by night. Great for all ages. Don't know what all the bad comments are about obviously they have the wrong pub!!!!!!

This is the best pub in Co Kildare. The food is top class as is the welcome. I drink in the bar and both young and old mix seamlessly. The landlord puts up with no nonsence which means its a safe place to drink and eat for families. A fantastic with great craic and no idiots. The guy who paid over E30 for a steak and chips did not pay it here, the food is great value for money.
